Are the cups synthetic rubies? No, they're just ceramic. But it's solidly constructed, the lids open easily and close completely. The three white cups make it super easy to see where the oil is. It's harder to see in the red cup, so tend to keep 9415 in that one as I don't use that except for pallet stones and I'm paying close attention when I do so. The rest of the cups I can now reach for almost by feel and using only peripheral vision. It took me the longest to be able to "see" the 9010 in the cup, but now that's second nature.
