I bought this Metabay Six- Watch winder after looking through reviews of dozens of watch winders on Amazon.The main worry on all these more affordable watch winders that are mostly sourced offshore seems to be that they occasionally stop working a couple of years in. That and there are a dizzying number of brands to look through and evaluate. On the first point, I think these watch winders manufactured overseas get a bad rap. The motors in all winders are relatively simple and honestly, the name brands fail, too. Here is an example. I bought three Italian Watch Winders in 1997 from a company called Time Dimensions. The actual winder was called a Time Cube. All three failed within 5-6 years and they cost $825 each for a double watch winder. This Metabay winder gave me the ability to wind six watches for about $229.00, far, far less than the $2,475 I paid for six watch winding capability from Time Dimensions 1997. If this watch winder fails every two years, and I bought a new one every time, I'd still come in at about 30% of what I paid for the Italian Winders, which lasted only six years! There are, of course, other, higher end watch winders on Amazon, such as Wolf. However, if you look through the Wolf reviews, you will see people complaining of early failure for that product as well.Still, I am hopeful that this winder will actually last longer than that those $825 Italian Watch Winders. It (The Metabay) seems very well constructed. It is sturdy and attractive to look at. There is plenty of width between the cushions for larger sized watches. The blue LED light is nice. Best of all, there are five different settings for your watches. Most of the watch winders in this category only have one setting. This is very important because having all these settings means you can wind your watch counter-clockwise or clockwise, or both and at different speeds. Different watch companies have different requirements. Again, this feature is less common in this price class.One other thing I like about this watch winder, is it is set to auto-stop when you open the cover. This is a GREAT feature. I would bet that I caused my old winders to prematurely fail, because I often pulled my watches out of the winder while it was turning. I never really thought about it, but reading through all the reviews, I saw a few manufacturers who recommend NEVER taking a watch off the winder when it is moving. With this winder, you won't have to remember, it will shut off for you.Blue lights look really coolIt was awesome!Good value, battery life only 2-3 weeksVery nice design, the winder makes almost no sound while running it and automatically stops rotating when opened, which is another great feature. Although the durability of this winder still needs to be tested, it has been well worth the money spent so far.At this price point, this looks great and is extremely quiet. The LED lights are underneath the watches, so it doesn’t illuminate the watches very well. I didn’t plan to use the lights anyway, so it doesn’t affect me at all. Overall, a very nice case that keeps the autos running. Very pleased with this purchase.I got this 6 slots winder so I have more rooms for my future watches. LOL I only have two automatic watches right now. I love the way they can run it on battery and you can turn off the LED and keep the motor winding. Overall, great product!I bought it as a present for my husband and he wasn’t happy with my purchase
